How to Gain access to Your online "CRA MY Account"

A Step-by-Step Guide

Staying on top of your taxes and financial information is easier than ever with a personal CRA account. Tievoli Wealth is here to guide you through the process, so you can securely access your tax information, benefits, and more—all online. Here’s a step-by-step guide to get you started.

Step 1: Gather Your Information

Before you begin, make sure you have the following on hand:

  • Your Social Insurance Number (SIN)
  • Your current postal code
  • Your date of birth
  • Information from your tax return from the previous year

(like your total income)

Having these ready will make the setup process smooth and straightforward.

Step 2: Visit the CRA Website

Go to the official CRA website: CRA My Account for Individuals

and click on “CRA My Account” to begin the registration process.

Step 3: Choose Your Sign-In Method

The CRA offers two ways to access your account:

  1. Sign-In Partner

– Use your bank login credentials from a participating Canadian financial institution.

  1. CRA Login

– Create a new CRA user ID and password directly with the CRA.

Choose the option that works best for you.

Step 4: Create Your CRA Login (If Applicable)

If you choose CRA Login, follow these steps:

  1. Click CRA Register.
  2. Fill in your personal information (SIN, date of birth, postal code).
  3. Answer the security questions using information from your previous tax return.
  4. Create your username and password.
  5. Record your security code provided by CRA for future access.

Step 5: Confirm Your Identity

The CRA may send a security code by mail

to your registered address. Once you receive it (usually within 5–10 business days), log back in to enter the code and fully activate your account.

Step 6: Explore Your Account

Once your account is active, you can:

  • View your Notice of Assessment
  • Update your direct deposit information
  • Track your RRSP and TFSA contributions
  • Manage tax credits and benefits

Having online access makes it easier to stay organized and on top of your taxes throughout the year.

Tip from Tievoli:

👉 Always keep your CRA login credentials and security information private. Enable security features like two-factor authentication if available for extra protection.

Creating your personal CRA account is simple, secure, and a smart step toward better financial management. If you need help navigating CRA services or planning your taxes, contact Tievoli Wealth to speak with us.
